Research Breakfasts16th November 2020
Working in partnership with Kingsbridge Research School (KRS), SWTSA has offered teachers from across Devon the opportunity to engage with a bitesize session on a current topical issue led by the Director of KRS. One of the most popular sessions, that is always well attended is:
Introduction to Metacognition
Based on the EEF’S Metacognition and Self-Regulated Learning Guidance Report and Memory programme, the session explores:
- How we can use Metacognition to help develop more independent learners
- What we mean by effective modelling
- A range of strategies to improve students' memory of course content.
The sessions have moved online this term, in response to the pandemic and are proving to be equally as popular with our reach now extending across the South West.
Even with travel time, we’ve had some really positive feedback.
“We found the early 6.30am start all worthwhile in attending your seminar - which says a great deal, after leaving here at that time! It was really useful to share in your thoughts and studies in this area and is something we will be immediately acting upon with both students and staff.” January 2020
