Welcome to SWTSA, the South West Teaching School Alliance
Teach schools provide the opportunity for all schools to learn from the very best. They have a leading role in the training and professional development of teachers, support staff, and school leaders, in addition to contributing to the raising of standards through school-to-school support. SWTSA strives for:
Collaboration to promote best progress for students and staff in our alliance and beyond
The SW Teaching School Alliance was formed in the first tranche of Teaching Schools created in 2011. Kingsbridge community College and Ivybridge Community College jointly lead the alliance of 39 schools across Devon and the SW.
The SW Teaching School Alliance is committed to recruiting the best teachers to the profession through its School Direct programme, ‘teach SOUTH WEST’ in conjunction with Exeter University.
The SW TSA is committed to providing high level data sharing and rigorous data interpretation in order to plan and implement change and inform focused support.
The SW TSA provides a range of high quality CPD through its close liaison with the Kingsbridge Research School, the Education Endowment Foundation and a focus on evidence based practice. It also collaborates with DTSA and ECTSA through the CPD portal of
TSSW Teaching Schools South West
The SW TSA facilitates subject specific CPD through the work of subject networks and the input of SLEs – Specialist Leaders in Education. This work also focuses on evidence informed practice: What works? Does it work in this context? How do you know?
The SW TSA has a membership structure which allows access to the benefits listed above. Some members are also members of the national network of excellence, Challenge Partners; they join the Kingsbridge Challenge Partners Hub and are thereby also members of the SW TSA.
