Programme Overview

DTP is a highly effective school-based programme, designed and delivered by experienced and successful school leaders. This programme is open to all teachers who want to improve teaching and learning and deliver consistently good lessons. It is targeted at teachers with the capacity and commitment to improve. For many schools, it will be suitable for teachers in their first 2 years of teaching. For other schools it is used to support the development of teachers graded as ’3′ in Ofsted terms but with the capacity to improve.

Programme Structure

DTP is a six week development programme (one day per week). It is delivered face-to-face by outstanding facilitators. Sessions are interactive and provide opportunities for peer support and lesson observation.

Programme Commitment

The programme works best if schools are able to send three teachers on the same course, as coaching takes place in triads. Each School is expected to allocate one coach to their participants. The coach should attend the first and the final sessions and their role is to help the teachers’ progress the programme work in their own schools.
